Wedding Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been a photographer?

I have been a professional photographer since 1985 and I have a LIPPA qualifacation from the Irish Professional Photographers Association of Ireland.

What is your style of photography?

First have a look for yourself, then you decide. I would say I am easygoing but professional. I work in a calm and fuss free way and this makes for great photos because if you are enjoying the day then it will show through in the photos. I am not bossy so I don't take over the day. I work in the background and make it hassel free photographs. If you have the same temperment and are down to earth then we will get along.  If you are bridezilla and a control freak then you should book someone else. Remember I specialize in traditional church weddings.

Are you insured?

Yes. I have Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance.

Do you have back up equipment?

Yes I carry two of everything on the day so if something should fail, then I have a back up. Thankfully it has never happened but I am prepared if it does.

Can you keep the date for me?

Yes we can when you pay the booking for of €600. This can be paid on line, by post, or in our studio. Which ever suits you. Just check with us to see that the date is free first.

How far in advance do I need to book you?

If the date is available then I suggest as soon as you can. Just remember I limit myself to 35-40 weddings a year so some dates can go very quickly. Again contact me if you need any help.

How long does it take on the day?

That depends on what coverage you picked. For example a normal wedding would start at the bride's house (or where ever you are leaving from) for the preparations, then the cermony and afterwards the family groups photos, then to a scenic location of your choise and finaly to the reception. I always plan to be finished 30-50 minutes before the meal so you have time to chat to your guests. A simple guide is it will take about 1 - 1.5 hours after the cermony to have all photos taken.

Do we meet before the wedding?

Yes. I will be in contact with you and we will meet beforehand to discuss your exact requirements.

How many photos do you take?

That's a bit like the question, how long is a piece of string? Again on an average wedding about 300 approx. BUT remember it's quality and not quantity. (no point having 700-800 photos and you can only use 150 because all the rest are the same)

Do I get all the photos?

Yes, you get the keep all the photos taken on the day. I put all the photos onto a CD and it's yours for keeps. You can print off photos from it, you can e-mail them, you can do what ever you want.

Do you take informal and not posed photos?

Yes. I take most of the photos through out the day as informal photos. However I do suggest a few posed shots. For example the dress, the bride and the bridal party and ofcourse the family groups. Have a look at the samples here and see for yourself.

Do you travel?

Yes. I travel to most wedding venues in Ireland & Northern Ireland. I am based in Sligo and will travel 100km each way free of charge. Anything outside that would have to be worked out on an individual basis. If in doubt just contact me and I'll let you know.

What happens after the wedding day?

I will have all your wedding photos ready for you when you return from your honeymoon (depending on your package). If you picked a Storybook Album for example, I will have a virtual album make up on CD for you to view on your laptop/pc. You can then make changes before we print the finished big album.

Can our friends take photos?

Yes. Infact I encourage it. I will stand back out of the way after I have taken my shot and your guests and friends are welcome to take as many photo as they like.
